Is simplicity always an advantage – and is complexity necessarily an obstacle? A festive, interdisciplinary gala opening the fifth season of Music, Science & Inspiration. This time, we explore the tension between simplicity and complexity through live musical performance, computer science, and urban life. In music, we will move between homophony and polyphony, asking how the simple and the complex intersect in both composition and performance.

Through Complexity Theory, we will discover why complexity itself can sometimes offer surprising advantages; and from the perspective of urban life, we will ask how we can understand multi-layered human systems without oversimplifying them.

At the heart of the event is a musical celebration on stage: two concert grand pianos, the Tel Aviv Soloists Ensemble conducted by Barak Tal, guest pianist Ofir Peres, and pianists Orit Wolf and Eitan Globerson – performing Baroque music that reveals how extraordinary complexity can be transformed into beauty, order, and clarity.
