About the Session
This session invites us on a journey that spans the worlds of physics, the formation of the universe, the biology of memory and forgetting, and the artistry of sculpture and music. We will explore the vastness of space, from the cosmic voids that shape our universe to the intervals between musical notes that create the most beautiful harmonies.
Our universe is primarily composed of emptiness—of nothingness—that separates and creates the space between entities. How does matter form in our universe? How do chaos and cosmic explosions bring something out of nothing, even in the realms of black holes? What is the mechanism of memory, and why do we forget? What purpose does the phenomenon of déjà vu serve, and how does all this relate to brain research?
Transitioning from science to art, we will examine how landscape architecture designs outdoor spaces and how emptiness is imbued with meaning. We’ll explore the contrast between matter and void in modern and post-modern sculpture and how the spaces between sounds in music create experiences of unparalleled intensity and power.
This session offers a captivating and immersive experience, blending brief talks, live demonstrations of cutting-edge research, and live music performed by distinguished guest artists. It promises to be an occasion where science and art converge in a powerful celebration of creativity and knowledge.
